F.A.Q. – Frequently Asked Questions (GT Factory Diablo Door System Elite)

Q. How do I know if the “universal” Diablo kit will work on my vehicle?

A. We have done a huge variety of vehicles including cars and trucks and although some are harder than others, we are yet to find a vehicle that will not accept the conversion. It does take some intelligence to figure out the correct placement of the parts in each vehicle. The GT Factory Diablo Door System Elite hinge and or car may need some modification to sit flush against the car and door, so shop around for a custom shop that you are comfortable with doing this kind of work on your car.

Q. Will this be a bolt on kit?

A. It is actually harder to bolt it on because you have to drill your factory hinges bolt pattern into the half inch chromoly base plate and door plate and after you get it bolted up, the stock hinge mount might not be strong enough, so just have it welded on to achieve a quick and reliable install.

Q. Can I open them normally and up depending on what I feel like?

A. Yes, it has up to 25 degrees of horizontal motion.

Q. Have you taken into consideration the weight of the door and glass?

A. Yes, the lift supports supply 300 pounds of force per side to motivate the doors up. On most cars the supplied lift supports make the door feel weightless when you lift it up. Cars with light doors will feel like the door wants to spring up on its own when you lift it.

Q. I want the doors to go straight up (not butterfly doors)?

A. That's precisely why this is the undisputed best looking Diablo conversion, they do look straight up like the original Lamborghini. Which is unlike other “lambo style” kits where the door is flopped over at an angle when up!

Q. What is the GT Factory Diablo Door System Elite like while in motion?

A. It opens out then up, then closes down and in. It is limited to the L shape pattern. The door will not hit the quarter panel or rocker panel, or the hood, or the A pillar, or the fender. Opening the door like the stock motion before it goes up allows us to use all of the factory locks, latches, seals, and wiring.

Q. What parts am I getting?

A.  You only need one kit for both doors. The package includes 2 Nickel plated Diablo hinge conversion mechanisms, 4 Gas charged lift supports, all stainless steel hardware, Loctite and instructions. All our shipments are fully insured.

Q. What modifications are necessary to mount the GT Factory Diablo Door System Elite on my car?

A. You must cut the inner edge of the fender and cut or flatten chassis extrusions that prevent the swing arm proper horizontal range.

Q. Is the GT Factory Diablo Door System Elite reliable enough for my daily driver?

A. Yes, the Diablo mechanism is stronger and more precise than your factory hinge.

Q. Will the door jam look nice with the door open?

A. Yes, because the entire nickel coated mechanism is concealed within the fender area except for the swing arm extending from the slot cut in the inner fender. Over all it looks quite clean and like an O.E.M. item. The car also appears completely unchanged with the door closed.
